复古建筑[一]--文殊坊

Back to the old days~~
In recent years "tradition" has become a popular sell point. Traditional architecture style has been more and more adopted by businesses. In Chengdu, 文殊坊 is a commercial zone that features its"traditional revitalization复古"。
It sits right next to a famous temple -文殊坊.The location is prime, and the temple has very much done the ads before-hand. Honestly speaking, commercial centers with traditional architecture is not uncommon in other parts of China. I personally have visited the one in Suzhou, Yunnan, and of course in Nanjing, my home. However, to me 文殊坊 is the most well-organized and multi-functioned zone.
It has snack places, banquet restaurants, little outdoor food stands, shops with traditional products, including clothes, food, furnitures[see photo], paintings, calligraphy supplies[see photo], etc, tea houses, hotels. I have to say a lot of it feels like my childhood, especially the old-books stands[see photo] in the street. When I was young, a lot of modern entertainment has not developed yet. These street foods, little handicrafts, old books and antiques[mostly fake] were very much my memory of "have fun". Here 文殊坊 revived and extended these. Here I found almost all traditional Chengdu snacks and some of them have revived the most original way of making the food. In one shop I found the Sichuan silk[署锦] and witnessed the whole process of making it. From the aspect of preserving traditional silk skill, Nanjing has established a museam to promote 云锦,which is the specific silk made in Nanjing. [There are three most famous silk, another one is 宋锦]。

I

I I I I'm a consumer, from my point of view, 文殊坊is a great place to have some fun without much expense. There are plenty of little food places for me. However, those big businesses[higher-end restaurants and hotels], are not happy with 文殊坊's developer. I talked to a manager of a vegetarian restaurant and according to him, due to the bad business practices adopted by the organizer, the "status" of 文殊坊stays low end. In fact, many big restaurants have gone out of business.
Personally, as long as those old-books stands have a place to continue their business, I am happy enough~~
